Ember's Rise is out!

It’s a strange feeling to let this one out into the wild. While Serpent’s End was under development for far longer (just ask Will), Ember’s Rise was written right before my daughter was born and then it’s what I came back to once she started daycare part time. So, in a way, it was written over the course of some pretty big transitional moments.

It was also interrupted quite a bit by a very cute baby.

All that said, I feel good about the book and think you’ll enjoy it. It’s one of my goals to improve with each book I write and I believe I did so here.

The giveaway for Serpent’s End is also still ongoing today (April 24), so, if you know anyone on the fence about the series, now would be a good time to try and pull them in.

In other news, I am nearly finished with the second full draft of Book 3 entitled Sun’s Fall. It will be the conclusion to the Ember Sea Trilogy and brings the consequences of Ember’s Rise to fruition.

Stayed up all night finishing the book because I couldn't put it down. You did a really great job and I can't wait for the next one!

I've only just begun reading the new book (excellent so far), but I was just wondering something about your writing pace:

Are you trying to use Will's 2 books a year model, or are you still finding your pace with book writing? It seems as though every author has their own pace and style of completing books, and not every method works for every person.

I'm glad to hear that you've started reading and are enjoying yourself!

I'm very much still trying to figure (many) things out. I anticipate releasing four books this year, with perhaps a fifth shortly after the new year. Of course, a great deal of that depends on how fast I can get things written. Sun's Fall is heading into beta soon and then I'll need to get to work writing the first book of my next series.

I very much agree that not every method works for every person, and it will take some time to figure out what works for me.
