I asked my friend, acclaimed author Will Wight (you’ve probably heard of him), to teach me how to write a fantasy novel the summer after the world shut down due to the pandemic in 2020.
It's possible that I should have gone with learning how to bake, but here we are. At the very least, it’s been proven that this was not the cause of the next several months of upended lives and permanent disruption to the Grand Design. I have friends in high places. Trust me. What followed from that fateful request was several years of learning, editing, manic ancient language chanting, and tears of blood. You know, fantasy author stuff. The result is my first book, Serpent’s End! It can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CTPS4R2L I am equal parts excited and nervous to know that people will be reading it. Mostly, I’m glad to get it out of my hands and into yours. That’s the good part. The book is available to purchase digitally for $2.99 on the Amazon Kindle Store or you can grab a physical copy for $16.99. For those of you with Kindle Unlimited, you will also be able to read it that way! The goal of the blog is to keep you updated on what I’m writing, but also to communicate with any people that read the books and find themselves interested in me or the worlds I’ve created. So, if you have questions, please ask them! You can do so in the comments or email me at [email protected]. I also have a Twitter/X, Instagram, and Facebook where I’ll post information about upcoming books and, almost certainly, memes. So, if you found yourself here, welcome! I hope you enjoy the book and I look forward to hearing from you. Happy reading! Lorn

Any idea when Amazon will release it in Canada?

Hi! So it is technically release in Canada already, but it's taking some time for the search terms to populate that make the book searchable in Amazon's system.

I've decided that as you're a new writer I'm going to give each page of your book an evaluation, obviously my credentials in a completely unrelated field give me the best insights into this sort of thing. Alright here we go. Page one: I like it. Page two: still like it. Page three: I like it. Page four: oh wait, pause, still like it but now my kids are asking me to play monopoly, someone send help. They are brutal little landlords.

Four pages in and still liking the book is a win for me! I look forward to the ongoing evaluation!

Page 114: still like it. My three boys enjoy whatever board game they won most recently. By the end of the day it was guess who. This book sounds awesome, but my life has gotten so crazy I rarely find time to actually read books (yes, I know how pathetic that sounds), but I listen to a lot of them while commuting or doing other mindless tasks that have to be done. Do you have any plans to release an audio book? I'd definitely give it a listen. Tell your friend Will to introduce you to Travis Baldree and have him read it. :-D

I very much understand the value of audio books! That's how I primarily consume Will's books. Travis is the best (especially his Dross)!

When I don't have time to sit and read a book without a narration I turn on accessibility settings and have the book read itself to me. You lose nuance with the robot but it's worth it if you can't put it down and don't have time.

I loved the book. Now to show you my true colors as a reader, the only thing I want from you is the next book.... And then the next one.... And the next one, forever.
